Kaleidoscope Horse Rescue is temporarily closed due to financial strains and until we have a licensed humane investigator we will not do any investigations or seizures. Please also understand we ARE NOT AFFILIATED with anyone saying they are representing a horse rescue and trying to take horses or doing investigations unlicensed. ALL of our investigators, Board Members would show proper identification and would not seize without THREE attempts at help WITH SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES present at all times. Please report anyone presenting themselves as one of us immediately so we may prosecute and protect the innocent.
Currently, there are no horses in our care.
They have loyally carried us, labored for us and been members of our families throughout history.
They are a major part of our heritage.
They are our friends and partners.
Why then are so many abandoned, neglected, abused?
We Rehab, Rehome, Retire...
Kaleidoscope Horse Rescue was established as a 501c3 in 2003 in Mountain View, Arkansas. We have prided ourselves in providing education, resources, aid, humane investigation and prosecution and community service. Our original site had many resources and stories that over time we will try to republish here. Please be patient as we have personal lives as well, and often cannot update as often as we'd like to.
We do not like to seize animals. Seizures cost us much more than one might think, and since we are not governmentally funded, often these expenses come out of our pockets individually. We are located in a small rural community and currently do not have a "home". We use leased land, volunteer farms, etc. We are not profitable, nor do we ever expect to be. We are not active in legislative matters. We are not terrorists. We are not unreasonable, and realize that often things are not as they may seem. We strive to aid first, and only seize when absolutely necessary. We have a 100% conviction rate including appeals, to date. This is mainly due to the fact we do not seize without cause, and we follow up, research and have seasoned, real-life horse people at our helm. We will occasionally offer our openings to sellers needing placement for their horses due to various reasons. Also, we have limited number of retirement spots available.
Currently, we are one of only a few rescues left in Arkansas. We often take in donated equines. All breeds and types of equines are welcome here. We cannot, however, accept horses that are unhandlable or volatile, and stallions are limited by available stud enclosures. All policies are subject to change upon Board approval. Healthy donated horses are rehomed, and their fees go to help care for the ones with special needs. Many of our horses have been donated not because of their condition, but rather because of the situation of the owner. Typical situations include illness, job loss, relocation, financial difficulties, death, etc.
We need sponsors, donors, members, donations of items to use or sell, volunteers, etc. Please feel free to contact our Director, Amy Long at kaleidoscopehorses@yahoo.com or (870) 591-6789. Current Board members are Amy Long, Gala Davis, Mindy Clark, Lois Matteson and Kathy Leonard. References available with law enforcement, veterinarians, farriers, etc.
